Nile Cruises

NILE CRUISES

A cruise on the mighty Nile River is a great way to start or end your visit to Egypt. Personally, I would recommend adding the cruise at the end, since it combines touring with relaxation and allows you to leave Egypt rested, with energy to return to daily life back at home. Others might argue for the cruise at the start and this is of course completely up to you.

The majority of Nile cruises travel up and down the river between Luxor and Aswan, starting in one place and ending in the other. Sailing days and dates vary between the cruise companies, but most of the cruises are for 3, 4, 6 or 7 nights. Therefore, most people looking to enjoy a cruise fly from Cairo to either Luxor or Aswan with Egypt Air's domestic service, but there are also those who prefer overnight train travel which of course takes much longer than the one-hour flight and is completely different experience.

During the cruise, you will enjoy all the amenities offered on the specific ship, three meals every day of sailing, entertainment, a swimming/sunbathing deck on the top and touring, usually in Luxor, around Aswan and the ancient temples at Edfu.

Like all cruise companies around the world, Nile cruises can also be  divided into different levels, ranging from basic and popular to luxury and exclusive. Some of the ships offer cabins, a few offer suites, while most offer some sort of combination. I could be wrong, but I don't believe there's such a thing as an inside cabin on a Nile cruise, so you're pretty much guaranteed to have at least of a view of the Nile from your cabin or suite, if not your own balcony or terrace.

Which cruise to choose is always a question of preferences and budget, and I will be happy to help you with as much information as needed. If you prefer a specific cruise line or ship, it might be better for you to start by researching the sailing dates and build the rest of your stay in Egypt (and even your international flights) around that sailing date.
