Here are some sample itineraries for visiting Jordan. No two groups (or parties) are the same, which is why Scopia LLC specializes in customized travel. Any itinerary below can be modified to fit your specific needs, interests, budget and time constraints. So feel free to contact me for specific quotes and information about the tour that works best for you.

Sample 1-Night Itinerary. Start: Amman, End: Wadi Araba crossing near Aqaba and Eilat:

This itinerary is ideal for those interested in visiting Petra before or after their visit to Israel. It can start or end at the Amman Airport.

  • Day 1: Arrive at Amman airport (QAIA) where you will meet Scopia LLC's local partner representative, who will assist in obtaining your visa and transfer you to Petra, which is about a 3-hour drive from Amman. Depending on your arrival time, it might be possible to visit the sites of Mount Nebo or Madaba on your way to Petra. Check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight in Petra.
  • Day 2: After breakfast, visit the breathtakingly-beautiful site of Petra (about 4-6 hours), a city carved almost entirely out of the red, granite mountains surrounding a long valley. Then, enjoy lunch and head to the border in order to cross into Israel.

Notes:

  • It is possible to end the tour heading north to the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby), but you need to get to the border before 5:00 PM (17:00) since crossing here can take quite a while.
  • If you have some time, then on Day 2 after Petra, you can also include a visit to Wadi Rum, an area south of Petra with fantastic desert scenery. At Wadi Rum you can enjoy a tour riding camels or in 4 X 4 vehicles (sometimes driven by young kids, so be prepared!).

Sample 2-Nights' Itinerary. Start: Jordan River crossing (Sheikh Hussein), End: Wadi Araba crossing:

This itinerary is ideal for those interested in touring Jordan from north to south, as part of their tour of Israel. The tour can start or end in the north (Jordan River) or in the south (Yitzhak Rabin/Wadi Araba) or at the Amman Airport.

  • Day 1: Cross into Jordan at the Jordan River border crossing near Beit She'an in Israel. At the crossing, you will meet Scopia LLC's local partner representative and guide who will assist in obtaining your visa and begin the journey to Petra. Along the way, visit the Roman city of Jerash and the Islamic castle at Ajloun before arriving in Amman for a tour of the city and its monuments. Dinner can be either at the hotel or trying out some of Amman's excellent restaurants on your own. Overnight in Amman.
  • Day 2: After breakfast, head south from Amman to Mount Nebo and the city of Madaba. From there, continue along the shore of the Dead Sea to the Byzantine castle at Karak and eventually arrive in Petra. Check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight in Petra.
  • Day 3: After breakfast, visit the breathtakingly-beautiful site of Petra (about 4-6 hours), a city carved almost entirely out of the red, granite mountains surrounding a long valley. Then, enjoy lunch and head to the border in order to cross into Israel.
